Bou Tea Interior
August 2009

&made have recently completed the interior of Bou Tea; a contemporary, boutique tea shop situated in Central London, which will be showcased during the London Design Festival. &made have worked in collaboration with Roma Levin, who designed and produced the branding and visual identity of Bou Tea. The tea shop is situated in the Opera Quarter, Covent Garden’s histor-ic food and cultural centre and boasts over 60 teas of the highest grades. Bou Tea offers a refreshing new experience of the modern teashop with an extensive care to detail and tradition.
Patchwork Table – W&K
July 2009

&made were commissioned by Wieden and Kennedy to design a board table for their new offices in Shoreditch. The final outcome was the ‘Patchwork Table’, a single table which conjoined 15 separate classic antique tables. Each table was re-sprayed and held together through a sub frame, which keeps the tables on a single plane. The concept derived from multifaceted elements of wieden and Kennedy which come together to create the brand.
Nature en Kit

&made will be show casing their latest series of Lost and Found at the Mudac Gallery in Switzerland for the upcoming exhibition Nature en Kit. The show discusses the paradox of urban spaces in relation to the ever increasing use of nature in the design process. 1000 New Eco Designs

1000 New Eco Designs and Where to Find Them is a showcase of contemporary product design and interior products that are ecologically sound. Laurence King publishishers chose a number of &made products to showcase in this new publication, including Either Oar, Lost and Found and the Spair. The book will be available for retail from all good bookstores from June 2009.
L&F @ Paul Smith in Milan

In conjunction with Paul Smiths launch of the Spring / Summer collection &made were asked to create a limited edition run of the Lost and Found Series. Amongst the reclaimed pieces are a vintage series of cast Britannia legs and a selection of London felled ash timber slices. All of which have been restored resprayed and hand finished. Each piece carries a bespoke brass tag which gives the locations of where the various elements were rescued from.
Deptford Gaff – DD08

With all the regeneration and buzz around the face of Deptford &made designed a periscope to give the tennants and visitors of deptford an alternative way to watch the changes. The periscope enables the public to focus on a specific development in deptford and view the details in real time. All reactions will be documented using a text based format which will be streaming on the &made blog once the Gaff is opened.
AFHUK & Fareshare London
June 2008

&made were commissioned to design a collection of tables for the new Fareshare Headquarters in Bermondsey London. The development has been designed and project managed by the well known British division of AFHUK, headed by Chris Medland. The Fareshare charity is an invaluable source of food for Britain’s elderly, homeless and underpriveledged individuals. The aim of the charity is to rescue food from large retail chains, with an impressive mobile infrastructure the company redistributes food across the country.
&made Launch new Website

Due to the natural evolution of &made as a company, we felt the website needed a change, so we teamed up with graphic designer Jacob Howard to readdress the balance. Additional features include press downloads, and an &made quarterly newsletter, whilst also including more work, from concept through to final shiny products. We hope the new website enables you to enjoy our work to its fullest extent, let us know what you think.
Interview / Antoine de Caunes

&made will be featured in a documentary with Antoine de Caunes in late November on the French equivalent to Channel 4, Channel Plus 1. The documentary seeks to compare British and French culture, with an expose of the best attributes from both nationalities. &made were chosen to represent Britain in the field of contemporary design.
MoMA
November 2007

October 2007 MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art in New York have invited &made to exhibit their ‘Standby’ product series, as part of a new exhibition called Design for the Elastic Mind launching in late February 2008. Keep your eyes peeled for information coming later this year. “The exhibition will highlight examples of successful translation of disruptive innovation, examples based on ongoing research, as well as reflections on the future responsibilities of design.” Curated by Paola Antonelli, for the Department of Architecture and Design.

Liberty of London - Greta

Greta, &mades first commercial piece of furniture has been bought for the prestigous Liberty of London's latest collection. The piece which was designed for ISOS in February, for their new product launch, caught the eye of the Liberty buyers at the Metworks showroom in Whitechapel. Liberties was opened in 1875 by Arthur Lazenby and became synonymous with the art Nouveau movement, so much so that in Italy, Art Nouveau became known as Stile Liberty after the London shop. What an honour!

The ISOS Collection have invited &made to design a range of cabinets for their collection of furniture. All of the items will be produced by the experienced furniture-makers, Andrew Stanley. The first piece will be a sideboard and will be released at the Furniture Show at the NEC, Birmingham.
Design Mart - Design Museum

&made have been invited to exhibit at the Design Museum for Design Mart in September 06, where they will be launching their new collection ‘Climatised Objects’. Design Mart, at the Design Museum near Tower Bridge, until January 7 2007, is an annual showcase displaying the latest trends in contemporary design. The show, part of London Design Week, actively encourages young innovators in the U.K. to develop their artistic talent. For the last three years Design Mart at the Design Museum has showcased the work of the best of a new generation of product and furniture designers, as part of the Design Museum’s commitment to nurturing design talent.
Launch of &made
February 2006

&made are making their debut at the Salone Internazionale Del Mobile 2006. They will be running a complimentary taxi service for exhibitors, designers and press with an aim to meet and greet, as well as to get into the private views and parties. With already 200 invites sent out, the pair hope to have a few customers to ferry around and to show their potfolio of work. Alongside the taxi, &made will also be taking the &made Clip, a small coin shaped clip that will be scattered around the bars, exhibitions and streets of Milan. The piece aims to be mistaken as a coin and offers itself as a useful clip to hold the business cards and loose papers collected at exhibitions.

On Friday September the 15th &made launched Either Oar the flagship piece for the Climatised Objects series for design Mart 2006 at the design Museum. They paddled the sturdy craft up a tributary of the Thames to the design museum where it was installed alongside the other objects in the series.It was a momentus day and a landmark for the project.
Esmee Fairbairn - Bursary Award

October 2006 After the success of Climatised Objects at Design Mart at the Design Museum &made were awarded a £10,000 bursary by the Esmee Fairbarn Foundation. There were 14 candidates selected from the last two years of Design Mart of which 5 companies would be awarded the £10,000 to further their projects or the future of the companies. The young designers were chosen to participate in Design Mart and to receive the £50,000 grants by the Design Museum in collaboration with Emily Campbell, Head of Design & Architecture at the British Council. “We are delighted to be able to support these very talented designers”, said Deyan Sudjic, Director of the Design Museum, “they represent a new generation who are exploring design in many ways – practical as well as poetic.”
